As I walked into the gospel tent the excitement overwhelmed me. I saw the brotherhood, the relief, a unity. Through the sweat dripping off my brow I could clearly see that the stage and the crowd were equals. I first thought I was missing out. I felt like I was farther than 800 miles from home. I know I was physically there but these people had something I didn't have.? Then I watched closer. While tapping on my leg to the rhythm, I saw the same strut and swagger that rock n roll had stolen. The lustful looks that desire and pleasure evoke spilled out into the crowd. These people where not drunk, it wasn't even noon. I saw the excitement and lust that spills out of any roadhouse bar was exploding right before my eyes. It got me thinking about where I fit in, my community, my friends, some I hardly know, some that thrive for sin and others having faith in their outcome. Church for me might be a rock show but that day it was the gospel tent.
lyrics
the answer is out there everywhere
reachin' for each every doubt
I didn't want to believe I just like to listen
i can feel the urges escape from each song
some of them leap right off the stage
glory the glory seems like lust and vice to me
hidden beneath the hymns that our grandparents taught us to sing
i pick my children up in my arms cant shield them from what i see
i just wanna feel good for the sake of feelin' good
why cant we all just feel good
a just sacrament in a state of innocence
like a gospel for the degenerates and the casualties
a screwed up culture burning with religion and tragedy
i'm not sayin' not to love your brother in peace and harmony
sing out cuz were just fools
fools that need your message
not believin' that its everlasting
no guilt no rescue lifted spirits guide us to carry on
just sing out
